Donald Trump, in Shake-Up, Hires Breitbart Executive for Top Campaign Post

LAS VEGAS — Donald J. Trump has shaken up his presidential campaign for the second time in two months, hiring a top executive from the conservative website Breitbart News and promoting a senior adviser in an effort to right his faltering campaign.

Stephen Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News LLC, will become the Republican campaign’s chief executive, and Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser and pollster for Mr. Trump and his running mate, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, will become the campaign manager.

Paul Manafort, the campaign chairman, will retain his title. But the staffing change, hammered out on Sunday and set to be formally announced Wednesday morning, represents a demotion for Mr. Manafort.

The news, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, was confirmed early Wednesday by Ms. Conway in a brief interview, but she rejected the idea that the changes amounted to a shake-up.

“It’s an expansion at a busy time in the final stretch of the campaign,” she said, adding that Mr. Manafort and his deputy, Rick Gates, would remain in their roles.

“We met as the ‘core four’ today,” Ms. Conway added, referring to herself, Mr. Bannon, Mr. Manafort and Mr. Gates.

The people briefed on the move said that it reflects Mr. Trump’s realization that his campaign was at a crisis point. But it indicates that the candidate, who has chafed at making the types of changes his current aides have asked for even though he had acknowledged they would need to occur, has decided to embrace his aggressive style for the duration of the race.

Both Mr. Bannon and Ms. Conway are close with Robert and Rebekah Mercer, the father-and-daughter conservative donors who have become allies of Mr. Trump and are funding a “super PAC” that is working against Hillary Clinton.

Veteran dancehall singer Blackface has been part of the entire process as he first called out Wizkid, but he has most recently focused on 2Baba, saying the singer ‘stole’ his song Let Somebody Love You.

This allegation has made the news around the nation, with many wondering and asking why it took this long for him to speak out if indeed his songs were stolen.

In a new development, the accused singer 2Baba has weighed in on the discourse. He revealed that the allegations from his former group mate were unfortunate.

Speaking to Channels TV, he said he does not know how the allegations came about.

He added that he first thought Blackface’s Twitter account was hacked when the allegations started to make the news.

“My brother it’s just so unfortunate. I do not know where it is coming from [but] I am trying to think of different reasons.

“At first I first thought his account was hacked or something. Apparently it wasn’t hacked, so…We will trash the whole matter but I got nothing but love and respect for him and it is just so unfortunate that he is coming at me like that.”

He added that he has nothing but love for the Killah singer even though he clearly doesn’t feel same way towards him.

2Baba said: “Apparently he doesn’t consider me his friend anymore but I wish him no ill-will. Let’s leave it like that for now.”

Poll: Clinton 6 points ahead of Sanders in Iowa

Hillary Clinton has a 6 percentage point lead over Bernie Sanders in Iowa, a new poll out just one week before the state's caucuses shows.

The Fox News survey shows Clinton with 48% support to Sanders' 42% and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley's 3%.

The poll is the first since mid-December that meet's CNN's polling standards and shows Clinton with a sizable lead over Sanders. It could signal that momentum is swinging back in Clinton's direction after Sanders surged into the lead in early January.

However, Sanders remains the front runner in New Hampshire, the first primary state, with a 56% to 34% advantage over Clinton, according to a Fox News poll of the Granite State.

And Clinton's national lead among likely Democratic primary voters has narrowed -- but is still clear. She's up 49% to Sanders' 37%, a third Fox News poll showed.

Buhari Speaks On Current State Of The Nation

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the reasons for ethnic and religious conflicts in different parts of the country like Biafra actualization, Boko Haram insurgency and others.

The president stated that that poverty, injustice and the lack of job opportunities were largely responsible for inter-communal and intra-communal conflicts in Nigeria.


Buhari spoke while receiving a delegation from the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, an organization active in the promotion of peace in Nigeria.

The leader of the nation said that to achieve lasting peace in Nigeria, bigger effort must be made to wipe out poverty and injustice.

The president defined the ethnic and religious conflicts in parts of the country as obvious manifestations of fundamental problems of joblessness, injustice and poverty.


On conflicts between farmers and herdsmen, Buhari stated that a plan to map out grazing areas will soon be presented to the Nigerian Governors Forum as a temporary solution to the common conflicts until cattle owners are convinced to accept other means of rearing their cattle.

The leader of the country praised the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue for the comparative peace that had returned to Plateau state as well as their current activity in Southern Kaduna.

President Buhari agreed with the Centre that dialogue was always desirable to the use of law and order mechanisms and power in the resolution of conflicts.

Boko Haram fighters just yesterday killed at least 15 people in a fresh attack on Admawa state.

President Buhari in the beginning of 2015 announced that the insurgency has been technically defeated. However, the attacks continued.

The Fulani people are one of the largest ethno linguistic groups in Africa, numbering approximately 40 million people in total.
